Any recommendation for a small battery charger for the Sony FM50 battery (battery for the Sony R1)? I've seen a Sony model that can charge 2 batteries at one go and there's an LCD pannel. But I find it too big for travel. Is there another Sony model around that is smaller?
I'm also ok with 3rd party charger as long as they work well. PS: Don't suggest the charger from Eastgear please! I've exchanged 4 chargers within a month and all failed within the 1st or 2nd charge. Exchanged my 4th charger today and it failed within minutes! |

Hmm... been using the Eastgear FM-50 charger for a couple of months now and it's been working perfectly. What exactly was the problem with yours?

Is there any problem with the Eastgear charger? I'm considering it only for the fact that it's as slow as the Sony OEM. But at $19 it's certainly very affordable compared to the Sony OEM, which for the price is simply not worth it when the charging time is the same as the in-camera/camcorder.

The Sony portable charger is not available in Singapore and I've to order from BH Photo.
I know it is expensive but the EG charger has been giving me load of ****! Exchanged 5 charger within 1 month! All their charger failed within the 1st or 2nd charge. My transport fees to go down for the exchange exceed the price of the charger already. |

After 3 failed replacement from Eastgear, I bought a 3rd party one from MSColor in May. Been working well ever since.

But I guess it has a tail (wire) and don't allow u to plug directly to the wall power socket right? The Eastgear allows u to do so (but **** up). Sony also got several types of charger. The one that is similar to Eastgear isn't available in Singapore lor.... |

so many bad experiences uh... What brand is MSColor's? I was at EastGear just now and they are out of stock, but I notice there's 2 types for their Camera Devices brand, one with car adaptor and one w/o, looks like the former is a newer batch.

I have been using an eastgear charger for years and never had a problem. Always charge my batts to the full nice and quick. Still using it for my FM50 and BP511. It's the model with 2 bays and can hold adaptors for charging different batts. Not sure if this is the same model you guys are having problems with.
