The meeting place has also changed to BUGIS MRT STATION, outside the OCBC bank branch near the MRT telephone, as nekogotch says its nearer/easier to go serangoon road from there.

So, to recap, the Thaipusam outing is at...
10am morning @ BUGIS MRT Station on 18th January (Saturday)

nekogotch will lead/direct the way to Serangoon ROad from there. thanks Dagger & Neko... i'll see ya guys @ about 1pm after my seminar thing. btw i'll be near peninsula, so any1 needs anything urgently (like film, lens tissue, D1x, etc), just gimme a sms.

10am is a bit late for good shots, light are harsh, go there earlier if you can, example: 7am

Have breakfast first, most food stall along the way are sold out.

Bring your own bottle of mineral water.

    Never leave your equipments unattended.

    hey pple!!!
i just passed by serangoon road, I think all of us should go there right now!! cos the have already cordoned off the road and the are all walking towards the start point..

there's actually 3 viewers gallery along serangoon road, that might be a good camping spot for "snipers"

    Hi

i reached the first temple at 6:30 am in the morning. That's considered late cos when i reached, the temple was a flurry of activity, and a hotbed of photographic opportunities. Was anybody there around that time? i saw Rueyloon shooting his trademark panoramic shots with his cool Mamiya 7II, Greg with his Leica Ms, Hong Sien (from offstone) with wat looks like a Mamiya 7II as well, and quite a few freelance photojournalists. i chatted with one of them and found out he was sent by his New York photo agency here to shoot the event!

Quite a few lady photographers too, including a feisty young female caucasian who was skipping around with a Leica M6/7 in her hands. Pity she's too fast for me to chat her up

anyway it was VERY fun. i enjoyed myself despite having coconut milk splashed all over me and my camera, being pushed around, having weird powder nearly sprayed over me...............

Hey, thanks for letting me join you guys...

I think from now on I better equip myself with one of those tourist singapore maps whenever I go out for photo shoot.

Thanks to megaweb for the tips! And Dagger for being patient with my phone calls...

Hope you guys had fun at Chinatown... wish I could've gone...

Boon Hwee, as usual, u were late! My main objective was to write a usage review of the 21mm vc lens and I took this opportunity to shoot a roll on a Kodak 400VC. I posted my brief write up at http://www.offstone.com/photo/messag...tml?1042949902

Learning it... although didn't have much time today...

It feels, er, different. Uhhhm, somehow the AF feels slightly slower than on an E10... I guess it also depends on the lens... but I felt it even when using the 50mm/1.8... Hmmm. Of course the images are cleaner... I guess I have to shoot more so I can get used to it.

I don't think your shots are crappy. But I do find that after the first 10 or so kavadi shots they become less interesting. I find your shots of the spectators more fun after that.

    Just my humble opinion.
