Default The prelude of Chinese New Year, 2003 - Tom Shen

Finally, Chinese New Year 2003 is around the corner. I have been thinking of making a CNY series for a long time. Still remember how a DSLR influenced me at the same time of last year. Now, here is MINE! I want to show you the colors and the mood of this traditional celebration time. Any comments and suggestions are welcome.

Please visit my main site at: http://www.openlens.com/~tomshen for the full series. I have stopped updating my pages at clubsnap mirror site coz it has exceeded the quota. But u still can access my main site from http://tomshen.clubsnap.org as I placed a redirecting link there. Some highlights:

Nice work here. Same sentiments exactly about the series

But what has the last pix got to do with CNY?

Good stuff. I like the closeups of the foods like the kwa-chees. Unique perspective.

Remember to take your photos BEFORE Chinese New Year, because Singapore will be a GHOST TOWN during CNY itself (just like Hari Raya.... ).

I used "daylight" white balance with -1 saturation in camera, colors are already saturated. Let me check if necessary to increase saturation again

not sure if this is what Tom intended, but the last pic
depicts a scene which is very common during
festive seasons --> the mother busily shopping,
leaving the father to "jaga" the little ones.

The lady at the back could be the mum [or
just a fellow shopper], she's smiling so it
suggests the mood

get the feeling that the kids are either restless -
shop, shop, shop for hours, or excited cos'
it's the New Year

I think they are talking about the LAST pic in the full series, which is a wrong one at the wrong place.
