It's a great toy.
Fast start-up, big screen, long batt life. Pix r decent too, contrary to most belief (dun understand why so many pple complain abt Sony's compact cams). Love its ability to take attached filters & go manual... thou I wish the aperture cld be adjust'd more instead of juz the extreme values...

In short, it's one of the best compact cams I ever had. Many people are prejudiced against Sony becos of the mem stick issue but I think they are really missing the picture. Anyway, the price of MS has come down tremendously. Sony cams produce very decent pics, in fact I sometimes get better pics with it than with my Canon 20D. Of course the main weakness of compact cams is taking pictures in low light conditions (noise) but with decent lighting, they are great to use.

I have done numerous super 8R prints of the pics taken with the W1. Trust me, it's more than sufficient for the purpose. I have since changed to a Canon Ixus becos I fancied the sleeker profile and smaller size, but the image quality is inferior to the sony - lots of CA and noisy above iso 100

I am now looking to get another Sony again... something like the W70 would be just fine. Nice and compact. Cheap too. I got the W1 2 years ago at $700. Now you can get a much better spec cam like the W70 (7.2 MP) for $400 plus!

The images taken are very gd, screen is big, however in manual mode, it doesnt have much to choose for the aperature, 2 fvalue each for wide and tele zoom, it doesnt have aperature priority and shutter priority. Min shutter speed is 30s which i think is sufficient enough for normal use.
2years ago was comparing W1 and Canon A95.
Now decide to jump ship to Pana to try out the Lecia lens, FZ7 instead of H5.
In short a superb digi compact cam for ppl who just PnS.
