Hi,
Is there a compatible 3rd party battery for D200 (EN-EL3e)? Since D200 has battery level indicator, 3rd party battery may not work properly? I have checked several retailers (CP, Lords, etc) but no stock. Quote price was $95. Anyone bought it recently and care to share where stock is available? Regards, Yong |

Be very careful when you buy 3rd party batteries... might fry your circuitry
I read this somewhere... not sure if its true, but even though 3rd Party batteries claim they have more power than original, apparently its not true. One is connected in series, one is connected in parallel (not sure which is which though... )So apparently the battery life is worse than originals. Don't flame me... I read this somewhere, forgot where, you might want to verify. But I only go for originals... Cheers! |

Price is around the above quoted, stock level is zero currently. Check again on this Wed/Thur.
YMMV

Answer : I take my D70 as example, I bought 2 3rd party batteries, each cost ard $35 (price quoted from MS) an original Nikon EN-EL3 will cost ard $80+ to $90+. I've used it close to 2 years before I sold away my D70, no problem, &.... to be a little precise, I found they seems to be able to last longer that original battery (comparing same spec i.e. mAh) So what say you ??? REMEMBER : using 3rd party battery is always not recommended & encouraged by Nikon |

So what say you ??? Yes agreed with you this is one of the main reason I use 3rd party batteries But for a 3rd party battery @S$85.00 is abit high. |

I had to buy my spare original Nikon batteries from Hongkong, no stocks here for a long time. They were packaged with the MB-D200, though.

had one 3rd party batt for my d70 from ms colour. does not last that long as compare to the orig. during my trip to korea ski resort, the batt went dead at outdoor, cannot use at all. ok at room temp. so my advice stick to original.

Thanks for all the info and discussion.
I have used 3rd party batteries with other cameras with no problem. Let's be more specific. Anyone use 3rd party for D200 as replacement for EN-EL3e? |

"Non-Nikon brand batteries are available for sale in various countries around the world. To avoid possible damage to your camera and potential injury, please ensure that any batteries used in your camera are manufactured by a reputable company and to the same high degree of quality as Nikon's batteries. Note that Nikon has no responsibility for problems arising when using non-Nikon batteries in your Nikon digital camera. We therefore can only recommend using Nikon brand batteries which may be used with confidence."

The question I always ask myself is, why spend thousands on a camera and risk damaging it just to save a few dollars. If you use an original battery and it damages your equipment, Nikon will have to be responsible. If you use a 3rd party product, Nikon will tell you to go Remember the recent article in the newspapers about the guy who's Noika mobile exploded? He had the phone in his trouser pocket and the explosion burnt his leg. When it was found that he had used a 3rd party battery, Noka quickly refused to accept any responsibility. Good thing the explosion didn't blow off his nuts , so now he still can "bang balls" ![]() _ |
