Normally a search yould yield your answers faster than waiting for people's reply.

I don't think so... D70s have no Vertical grip, I mean original Nikon vertical grip. 3rd party have, but quality wise...

can, but you will need to cut off the pins from the D80 grip
so the shutter also cannot work.

but you will get garang looking camera with extra battery

hmm... just a point to ponder...

Is it possible then to modify a D80 battery grip for the D70s? Then you at least have a original nikon product...

You'd still have to link the grip to the IR port(for the D70/D70s) or the remote port(for the D70s) for it to AF and shoot, even the jenis one does a quick AF through the IR remote trigger.

Not sure if itcan be done, so far the only BG i've seen that can do this is the one by harbotronics, although its a discontinued : http://www.harbortronics.com/detail.php?id=2

If any of you guys are engineers..can always try

It would be much easier to pass on the D70/D70s to your family members (or sell it off) and buy the D80

Original Nikon with modified thing? It is as good as 3rd party one, IMHO...

And replace your CF cards with SD cards?
And sacrifice the 1/8000 shuutter speed?
And sacrifice the 1/5000 flash sync speed?
And sacrifice the better grip?
And sacrifice the 1005-pixels Matrix Metering?
And sacrifice the availability of so many tone curves available on the web?

tat's why he needs to look at D200 instead of the D80....

but gain...
10.2mp sensor
Multi-CAM1000 AF with 11 area TTL
dedicated AF mode selection without needing to go throuh the menus
3D color matrix metering II
ISO100 to 1600 (3200 with boost)
better CLS functions
better noise performance
better view finder
larger & better LCD
better battery life management
option to add battery grip
extra FUNC button
larger image buffer for continuous shooting

10.2mp -> more memory needed -> more ^$^
11-area, so? Even with 5-area I'm only using the centre AF area only.
Yeah.. How many times do I need to use AF-C when I don't even shoot at 3fps?
Whatever metering is just an indication, sometimes we still have to compensate.
The ISO100-3200 is the only feature I think is really useful.
Don't think I'll need better CLS.
Better noise performance is useful, I lump that with the ISO.
I'm quite satisfied with using the DK-21M on the D70s.
I don't really need to show people my reviews but it's useful. Colour Histogram is also useful but I seldom use also.
Better battery life management /= better battery life. I still believe the D70s has a better battery life, but I may be wrong... haven't tested the D80 enough to know.
Don't need a vertical grip. Otherwise I would not have gotten the D70s.
FUNC button is useful, but still thinking what function to map there.
The buffer is not that much larger.
One more advantage is the reduced weight but with lenses like the 18-200VR, I think the body might feel flimsy.

The D70s is primarily used for tours and for everyday kind of shots. For more important shots and the use of the listed features, there's always the D200.

So I don't see why I should part with another $1.6k for now? Haven't gain back the ROI for D70s leh!
