Default 4GB CF card wil work on what DSLR

    Hi,

I recently aquired a 4GB "Silicon Power 120X" CF card and put it in my E-500.

It did not recognise it, so I put it in one at work .... just the same.

I put it in my D70 and it showed -E-, so I put it in a D70S at work and got the same.

When I put it in my 20D it worked fine as with a 30D at work.

Does anyone have any feedback on this.

Such as, has anyone had good results with either the D70 or E-500 with a different brand of 4GB CF card

    I am interested to know.

    Cheers

I got the Transcent 4GB yesterday and it works fine on my D70.....maybe you see your cam have any firmware upgrade...It should be using Fat32 to support disk space larger than 2GB

And I have no problems (touch wood) whatsoever with my 4GB Samdisk Ultra II on my D70S.

    Hi,

    Thanks Big Kahuna and yyD70S.

Looks like the company might be getting the card either back or sorted out.

Though it does work on my 20D, I see it should work on my others.

I also would not like to think it will fail whilst in use on my 20D due to what ever it's problem is.

    Thanks again for your replies

    Cheers

pablo - have u tried re-formatting the card prior to use? else, have a look at the cam manual and see if they FAT32 ready. most cams in the last 2-3 yrs are able to read 2GB and above cards. however, cams like nikon D1H (or similar cams in dat era) are only able to read cards up to 2GB, IIRC.

sometimes it's not about size, maybe due to brand/speed compatibility.
i do have an old 512 CF doesn't work with my old D70, but works on my older ixus. strange.
but now $ is not an issue for storage as price is relatively cheap enough for a 2GB.

yup, compatibility for a "standard" product is still an issue, e.g. some batches of Lexar cards have problems on some Nikon DSLRs but work well on other cameras.

yup, seem like some CF card/camera still have compatibility issue.

KM 5D & 7D seem to have problems with Kingston Elite Pro series of CF cards (very very slow and some claim not very stable), but no problem with the older normal Kingston series and other brands CFcard.
