understand that sometimes 2nd hand/used housing could be leaky or faulty?

whats your experience with this?

You can always request for a pressure leak test at the Sea&Sea shop.

Ask before. Dont think Sea and Sea pressure chamber can test such a big housing.

You should inspect the housing before buying, check for worn O-rings, and cracks or etc..

even then, on your first dive, bring it down without your camera in it to test the seal. you should even do this with brand new housings... just in case you know.....

Agree, really bad idea not to test the casing properly ALWAYS before dives - know ppl that lost their cameras to leaking casings, really pain sia.

Knowing good O-ring maintenance is also important, coz even if u buy in good shape it can become bad. So v.wise to invest the time and learn properly from the ppl at the shop or friends.

I have had a UW housing for my pns for a few yrs now so at least it taught me how to take care of housings and gave me some exp at relatively low risk than using my DSLR.

wow......hmmmmm

okay, absolutely newbie u/w photography question then:- what do u mean by good O rings? is there a brand particularly i should get? I mean....there are plenty around, and yesh, i'm a stickler for whether the material/stuff is good, so any particular brands and type around?

one problem is, if say i purchase from a shop, how to do a "submerge" test? if its not at sea? ....okay, it sounds lame...but is there a way that the shop can offer me to let it use once first? doubt so rite?
