Sony comes up with a 1/1.7" 6 megapixel CCD?
The current 1/2.5" 6 megapixel CCD from Sony seems to be as good as or even better than the 1/2.5" 5 megapixel SuperCCD from Fujifilm. Does it mean that Fujifilm is able to achieve such low noise because of its large sensor size and little because it is SuperCCD? Hmmm....and if Sony did come up with the 1/1.7" sensor and has just 1 stop difference is sensitivity quality when compared to the F30's sensor, and then further adds IS to give a 2-stop advantage, then Fujifilm would be in a major disadvantage right? Is it easily possiblie for this to happen? |

DCResource's review of the V10 using the 1/2.5" SuperCCD. Look at the ISO samples. ISO 800 and above are bad.
http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/fu...ew/index.shtml He mentions this too, and compares it to the Sony/Canon using the 1/2.5" CCD. And they do seem better. |

From ISO 400 onwards, Fujifilm still looks better than most compacts.

The Sony one seems less saturated though.
But there are a lot more factors to consider; i.e. The noise removal algorithm. But so far, the Fuji F30 with a 1/1.7" CCD is still the best. Can't find another digicam comparable to it in terms of noise. . |

But at what output size? 800x600? nah... I'll pass...
