Default Birds at PLAB Open Hse

Traffic jams, long queue to pass thru' security, hot sun, but no sunburn for me - but it is all worth it for the pic. Here are just a few humble pic I got to share:

F16 flypass

F16 Vertical climb

Landing gear that smokes

Big mouth, long nose bird

A peek into the cockpit of the French bird, but forgot to use small aperture for better DOF

Headgear of the Apache Longbow

Shots taken with Sg100-300F4/AF-S18-70DX mounted on D200, all handheld becos birds are far too fast for tripod/monopod.
See EXIF for settings.

We got French loaf, French wine, French cheese, French leave, French kiss, French cap, but no French mirage.
This French birdie is called the Super Puma, made by Dassault Aviation SA if I remember correctly.

Wah, got free-roaming bird to shoot - what a bonus. Feathered bird to practice you skill before the main-show. Well done man.

It's a Brahminy Kite, Haliastur indus. It's a common resident in Singapore and the region. Nice shot of it!

Equipment used given above. Settings can be checked in the EXIF of each pic. Difficult art or technique of flying aircraft shooting - yeah, you can say it again! I went on Sat morn and got lousy results. Went again for the Sun 1700hr show and got somewhat better results. There are so many things that can go wrong, so many things to adjust and then, the action was so very fast. Moreover, I got my camera for only a couple of weeks only. Great event for testing and practice shooting.

I have seen some of the better shots taken during the AA airshow in Feb this year - my shots look mediocre compared to those. Hope to improve in future.

Correct, strictly no shooting IN the plane, but I shot from outside, thru' the glass.
