D80 noise level compared to D70/D70s?

For those who bought the D80, can you please post some photos taken at high iso for us to have a good look at the noise level of control?

any reviews on D80 noise level?

From what I tested, looks rather good for me at hi-ISO, are you thinking of switching up?

i was hoping to see higher iso on portraiture...

am thinking of D80 instead of D200 partly because of weight factor....and $$$$

unless D200 is much higher in terms of its CAM....then i will find D200 much more attractive

Tested these at Comex with my own SD card.

The scene I shot. Unfortunately, somehow I missed the ISO100, but since ISO 200 seems good, ISO100 should be better.

Hmm...the test by yilishengxian seem better.
But then the noise control is definitely better than D70.

agreed, could be that the sensor of the D80 that lsisaxon tested on has been heated up (By constant and non-stop usage as Sunday's crowd would be..... ) by the time the pics were taken? Hence the noise control wasn't that representative?

Yes, I agree. I'm putting up a 2nd opinion. Also show crops where there is colour and fine details (the corrugated ceiling also. I find noise vs details important. Also the bright light shows that there isn't any evident banding as with the initial release of the D200.

Noise control is better than D70 even with the increased resolution. In this aspect I'm quite impressed with the D80. But it's still not compelling enough for me to buy the D80 when I already have the D70s. The D80 feels a bit small and not as comfortable to grip also.

More likely that yilishengxian's crops does not happen to have much high resolution details so the noise reduction can be more aggressive?

But I dun think the "High ISO Noise Reduction" should not be applied to see how well the sensor processes the photo for this purpose in the 1st place by yilishengxian.

Got my D80! I must say the noise control is good. Much better than D70 on the first impression. I have yet to do a direct comparison though.

Yes, I thought so too.. And not forgetting that that's noise for the 100% crops, the 100% crop of the D80 has larger magnification than the 100% crop for D70s, so some of the noise can be smoothed out somemore. Before downsizing to 6mp, the 100% crop of the D80 already seems to have a 1-stop advantage in terms of noise.
