Ok...I see lots of RSAF open house popping up here and there...So I'll do something different lah hor? lol
I know they aren't very good pictures, cause I have shaky hands, but I hope they are enough to showcase the event which has been overshadowd by RSAF open house. REPORT Event: Home Team Academy Opening Ceremony Parade/Open House & Exhibition Date: 02/09/2006 Introduction: The Home Team Academy (HTA) is a new department under the Ministry of Home Affairs committed to the training of Home Team officers in Homefront Security and Safety. The Academy aims to spearhead training relating to Intelligence in Terrorism, Counter-terrorism, Crisis Management & Emergency Preparedness and conduct a wide range of programmes, which include behavioural sciences and leadership development. Co-located in the Academy are Police Training Command, Prison Staff Training School, Immigration & Checkpoints Authority Training Branch, Centre for Emergency Preparedness & Technical Cooperation and Behavioural Sciences Unit. The Internal Security Department and Central Narcotics Bureau Training Schools are represented in HTA as satellite schools. The Civil Defence Academy maintaines its own specialist training facilities off-campus. (HTA Open House 2006 Information Pamphlet) Crapbox: The damned pamphlet forgot to include the fact that the Home Team Cadet Corps (HTCC) HQ is also located in the Academy. This facility holds a special place in my heart as I was in the first batch of NPCC Cadet Inspectors to train and pass out in this premises. I also had the privilege of living in HTA for 7 days 6 nights. The previous batches all had their training conducted at the former Police Academy in Thomson Road. The parade was a little unconventional by Singapore standards (Officers wearing bush jacket on parade??? A bit wrong there...) ![]() Unity Square before the parade forms up. The exhibition vehicles have all formed up at the back of the parade square. ![]() The Parade Commander takes up his position and calls out the contingents. ![]() The contingents march out, led by the Civil Defence (orange), Homefront Security (white) and Police Force (blue) flags, and the Flag Party Commander. ![]() Left, right, left, right... The reason why they are not in their full uniform is because all the personnel in the various contingents are from the various Home Team agencies (SPF, SCDF, SPS, ICA, CNB, etc etc) ![]() The two contingents march towards each other from both sides of Unity Square |

![]() Many "Neo Ang Chias" ![]() The "Neo Ang Chias" park at the back of the parade square, in front of the vehicle exhibition, as the members of the Police Tactical Unit form up in front of their vehicles, signifying the start of the Riot Control Demonstration. On command, they put on their gas masks and draw their batons. ![]() Tear gas is flung towards the audience. Amazingly, after the gas clears, you can see that the canisters have all landed in a straight line, even though thrown by different men from the troops. ![]() The Police Tactical Unit troops storm through the tear gas fearlessly, using their batons to hit their shields on every alternate step. ![]() Both Troops, C and D, form up in front of the grandstand. |

Hmmm... Didn't see any crowd there. Is it due to the RSAF Open House?
Nice coverage too... but a little overexpose to me... BTW, do they still call PTU? Or is it SOC? And just to correct some info, DART = Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team... Now i regret not going for the HTA opening liao... Why am i so lazy??? Hahaha.... |
