Default is it worth it to get F30 over F11?

the price difference is very great now. F11 is at $399 with 512mb xd, and the F30 is at $599 with 1GB xd.

for the features, is it worth it to pay $200 more for the F30 and extra 512mb of memory?

That really depends on yourself to determine if it's worth....
For me.. I like F30 on their great improvement in noise. Addition 512MB cost less than $50. So for improvement in noise, ISO 3200 and slightly more manual feature, it is worth to consider F30.

Just my 2 cents of thought....

I've the F11 and if the reviews on the F30 high iso capabilities are accurate, then I'll say it's definitely worth the money. Don't know about you but I always feel that flash spoils a picture. With the F30, you can have your cake and eat it, i.e. simultaneously take two shots, one with, and another without, flash to compare the results. That's the best of both worlds and pretty much guarantee satisfactory results.

If I didn't already own a F11, I'll grab the F30! Now that I've the F11, I'll wait for the new s6500fd. Then, I'll probably sell the F11 and buy that

some of the reviews also indicate a much higher purple fringing effect for the F30 - and may not be a clear cut case of an absolute win. i did post a question here but didn't receive any replies.

i have the F11 and have to say that it does suffer quite a bit on bright sunny days - and can't handle hotspots well on regular auto mode.

I am also stuck in between F11 & F30 considering the differnet of $200.
Main usage is for my family outing & indoor shooting of my princess, so most
probly will go for F11.
Anybody got different view?

i just bought both the f11 and f30. after some comparison...my verdict: it's NOT worth the $200 extra. the main feature is the ISO3200...that's about it. and even at 3200...NR is very high.

I think the feature that makes it worth the extra $200 is the ability to take two shots consecutively, one with flash and one with high iso. For outdoor bright sunlight shots, not much advantages between most P&S cameras. However, for indoor shots, this feature of F30 will come in very handy for most beginners. By shooting two shots, one with and one without flash, that person can decide which looks better and use that.

The F11 lacks that feature and sometimes, when taking in door shots, I'll set to natural light mode and find that the on screen shot is too noisy. At other times, I'll take with flash and kick myself afterwards because I find the lighting too harsh. With the F30, I can take both types of shots and decide later !

I agreed with you on that.. This feature is very useful as it lets u choose between the 2 photos.. Sometimes the natural light one will come out better, sometimes the one with flash.. Its always good to have a choice..

Ya I find it quite amazing too.. I guess thats due to the new intelligent flash.. But I really feel that photos taken by F30 with flash seems to be better than other brands compacts with flash..

yeah no diff at ISO1600 btwn f11 and f30. F11 is made in japan compared to china for f30 (if it even matters to you). F11 has a screen protector. F11 has less CA. but on the other hand, f30 has dual shot and ISO3200. you decide. it's certainly not a clear win for the f30

Hi,

I'm also looking at F11 and F30 over at MS, the main different is F30 package include extra batt,1G XD card but the F11 package included only a 512K card. My only concern for F30 is that made in China while the F11 is in Japan, wonder if there is any quality lost in the F30.
I'm still a fan of made in Japan products.
