Default RAW support for D80

Just got my D80 @ $1550 thanks to Skyestang. Very happy with it, feels like my old D70.

However, there is no support for its RAW NEF images from PS CSII / Bridge.

Have to settle for jpg for now.

Congrats on your new toy.
Actually I am quite surprised that D80 is available in SG today. Still no firm dates on their availabilty in the US.

Anyway, have fun.

But you DID get some RAW conversion software free with the D80, right? I am sure not as good as CS2's RAW capabilities but maybe you can do the critical adjustments (like changing WB settings, if needed) in the Nikon software, save as jpg there and then open in CS2 for further processing.

I am thinking of buying either a D80 or D200 in about a week, the way I figure now, if the difference in price is less than S$500, I will go for D200.

adobe doesn't release the ACR updates for new DSLRs dat quickly. chances are u have to wait for a mth or two while they consolidate all the latest DSLR/digital back RAW/NEF/watever formats.

It comes bundled with the usual Picture Project, which should be able to handle D80 RAW, and, of all things, Camera Control Pro

I tried their Capture NX free trial but it couldn't recognize the D80 NEF format leh.

Shoot my sample pics in RAW, looks beautiful in the bright and big LCD screen, but when transferred to my PC, nothing works, so how to post pics here.

Now onwards must shoot in RAW+JPG.

That's not good...I hope Nikon did't rush this out the door without covering all the bases.

How about Picture Project?

Yes the update can open D80 RAW files. Thanks.

But I still prefer CSII/Bridge....

Hey, any ADOBE people reading this forum...what are you waiting for...work on the RAW update asap.

Work on the NX, you might find you like NX more over Adobe Bridge.
