True!

Li ion batts shld never be discharged fully all the time, as it may not be able to be charged back up, either due to the protective electrical circuitry (all smart li ion batts hv this) inside or the cells itself is damaged.

Li ion THRIVES on repeat charges no matter what %tage is used up, even at 80% it's perfectly fine to charge the li ion batt. There's no fear of overcharging as modern smart batts switched to trickle charging when full charged.

For digicams, unlike handphones or notebooks, which is not used daily, u may not need to plug it in every night or as frequently.

Ok, I can testify to this, I charge my battery at least once a week no matter how often I use it, it works as well now as it did when I first brought it, can take 800+ shots everytime, once got to over a 1000 with a VR lens attached, battery performance is excellent still!

Same here, I rotate both my batteries each time I go out... 1 is confirmed fully charged as a spare and the other will be charged after a trip or 2.

rotate the batteries to be charge is the best... sometimes can just charge if you think the battery is unable to cover the event with little amount left.

Litium-ion has got no memory effect. Unlike NiMH, it does have some memory effect which requires occasional refresh.

The worst is the older NiCad which requires one to fully discharge before charge else the battery will spoil.

Yes, charge Li-ION anytime will not spoil it. No memory effect too.

Ni-MH have a little memory effect, but Sanyo Eneelop Ni-MH I believe don't have.

Ni-CD is worse for memory effect. You need to use it until zero or almost zero before you re-charge it. Worse, left it zero and the battery will spoil after long period of time. Not to mention is bad for environment.

Arto.
