Default GPS-CS1 and A100

Good news for potential buyers of A100 ... but not so good news for early adopters who have already bought their A100...

The GPS-CS1 worth about US$150 now comes bundled with any purchase of the A100 according to this ad by Sony Singapore.

http://www.sony.com.sg/cgi-bin51/hsr...un&PROCESSED=Y

Buy, buy, buy !

Sorry, didn't realise that people can see that web page. It was sent to me through their email. So here's a screen capture for all to see....

May need to check with them personally to confirm as it seems to be just too good to be true.

It does sound too good to be $ony.

The screen only show that it's available? but didn't mention it's bundled though.

But as least we know that the Sony GPS tracker for photographers work for Sony Alpha 100 .

It seems to work with Google Maps and not Google Earth.
Check out the demo here:

http://www.sony.jp/products/Consumer...pView/try.html

Quite interesting. But if it's dependent on Google Maps, its use might be quite limited as there aren't many countries that are currently supported by Google Maps. Singapore, China, etc are not covered by Google Maps yet... unless Sony specially include Singapore's map in the software that comes with the GPS-CS1.

The GPS-CS1 is compatible with these other Sony cameras too... Cyber-shot DSC-S500, S600, S45, W30, W50, W70, W100, H2, H5, T30 and Sony α (alpha) DSLR-A100....
according to this site:

there are some interesting discussion here mention how the GPS work at DPReview Sony forum.
GPS for A100..

Seem like as long as the time is match between the camera and the GPS device, you can retrieve the GPS info on computer later on.
The draw back may be the short battery life, and you wife may know where you have been

Wat a cool gadget to have!

But based on the compatibility chart, it seems to work with newer Sony cams only... My old Sony W1 & KM d5D can't "talk" to it leh... Sighz.

the alternative for us older km owners would be a cheap and light GPS unit, a piece of paper and pen
