    so lets compare images.

in certain senarios a P&S camera can be better than a DSLR,
in fact sometimes only a P&S camera can get the shot
where the DSLR is too bulky

    for example

Huh? But thought you say the battery life also very important?

Well, for this its always open for debate. Technically speaking, there has to be difference else it will put the engineers to shame. Then again, photography is not just about technicalities. The limitations related to Digital Cameras, whether compact or DSLR is still the same, in terms of the capture and the color balancing.

Therefore the answer to the question would heavily rely on the photographer himself/herself and how he maximize the equipment he has on hand. An artistic shot does not heavily rely on dSLR, as analog or film photographers will be quick to tell you.

Sure there will be limitations in terms of shutter speed, flash, and the rest of the tools on the compact, however that means the photographer will have to rely on his experience and visual powess to bring out the maximum impact in every shot he takes, bearing in mind that every photograph is suppose to tell an individual story.

So the answer should be technically impossible but practically possible in most but not all situation. There will also be exceptions but lets not nitpick and list out the kind of shots that a compact cannot take.

Have fun and enjoy your journey.

Now this is no doubt going to get me flamed.

Apart from all the technicial this and that's.

To me the difference between a PnS and a DSLR is in the art of tuning it.

That must be a new way of describing it I guess. (this ruling out a PnS with manual).

It is like using calligraphy for a letter rather than via MS Word and a printer.

There is a feel; it is personal. It is an art.

Ok, I am ready for the flames
Time, is an effortless construction :)
