Guys, I saw and tried L-1 today...
Was brought by one of the Indonesian 'famous' photographer... I guess Panasonic sponsored him... they're on their way to Vietnam for a big hunting together with Ind-Sg-Msia-Viet photog.community... Couldn't tell u much abt it coz I'm a newbie myself... But my first impression is... quite hard to place my finger on the shutter... The owner said that he like the color produced... touch and feel almost the same like FZ series except all the S dials in the body and A dials in the lens... ![]() guys, I know that my reports looks lame but I am just too excited after I saw and really touch and shoot with it Just want to share with all of u....Anybody know when it will be launched in SG? cheers, David |

Hi David,
I dont think it feels like FZ series though... just my personal opinion. My impression is, it's bigger than i thought.. The shutter position is kinda weird if u havent used to it. The aperture ring is really nice... OIS seems to work well... Some photos of the L1 that i took last night: ![]() L1 and the owner... ![]() L1 compared to Banana Prata ![]() ![]() |

Hahaha, thanks bro for attaching the pics...
After I started the thread last night, I was a bit like... errrr, this boy is bluffing liao! Yep, it is indeed bigger than my FZ 20... what I meant by almost the same is the 'material' feeling... like the rubber grip, the buttons... anyway, it might be just me that was too "FZ minded" ... anyway, d4nie, it was fun meeting all of you last night. Lookin forward to meet all of you again. and Mr. A is sure a fun and warm guy! cheers! |

I like it. The shutter dial on the body and the aperture ring on the lens is very much like the old cams. This is a classic design. I would not feel weird using it as that's how I've been shooting with my old cams. Panasonic just need to improve on their noise problem.

I was in Mongkok (HK) last nite and saw the L1 selling for HK$15*** at Wing Shing (roughly about S$3,300). Very tempted to buy!!!

Wing Shing and Man Shing are honest stores but not the best prices in HK. In fact, I believe SGD3.3k makes it more expensive than here. Also there's the issue of warranty. Just my two cents.

er I had a go with it today at best denki, vivocity. without battery though, so I just got to hold it and check out the exterior.
it feels as plastic-ky as my fz5. so that's a disappointment as I thought it'd feel as solid as it looks. other than that, manual focus doesn't work when the camera is not powered. ![]() kinda disappointed that it doesn't feel solid. it's a $3000 camera for goodness' sake. |

It felt like a brick to me too bulky when i tested it at ms color sometime ago. There was some problem with focusing so i got off the hook. The price was 3200.

What's the problem that you faced on the focusing, care to share...
I guess MS Color is cheaper in price compare to Best Denki... |

hey guys, before you decide on your purchase you should see the results this camera can produce. I tried the RD-1 in HK and found that it is good but the lack of AF was a bit limited. I'm a Canon user when I work so I did consider getting a 400D but bought the L-1 for my current trip because it was a lot more compact (compared to my 1D) and here are some shots from the last few days. I also have an LC-1 so I was looking forward to the L-1. I used the Dynamic B/W mode which also allows me to record in color in RAW which is a pretty useful feature. It also gives me a film-like look which means I don't have to do edits in PS. All shots are as shot except the ones with an A which were either cropped or have had some dust removed. No adjustments were made otherwise. http://www.vitalimages.com.sg/nyc/ All comments appreciated. Thank you.
