    Default SE P990i

    Hi,

I have been thinking hard on getting a replacement for my P900.

Anyone using the new P990i currently? Any 1st hand experience or advice?

Im holding my purchase as the newly launched phones do have quite a few bugs and the new firmware is still unable to resolve all the major ones yet.

Thanks in advance for any opinions.

    Good day!

you might want to check out secentral.net forums, under the subforum of Symbian Phones, "UIQ 3". More feedback on the P990i there.

Haha! Seems like everyone is from there too aye.

Thought of reaching out to photographers too mah.

Can't find any other substitute hp with wifi. not looking at PPC. Palm has no wifi phone. Treo 650 is solid but... needs to be updated.

P990i looks good, but think maybe let the price settle down further, hopefully it will drop a couple of hundred bucks

Tried it. Ok lar. Not to say it's the best but definately better than predecessors.

Wifi is good to have but a little slow. What to do....it's only a mobile phone.

    come out already loh.

Some of them even for it before it was launched.

Good phone with wonderful features but can be a little buggy for now.

Casey: Im waiting for the price to settle first. I mean there must be alot of rich pockets cause they started saving from Oct '05 till now. Haha!

3 of my colleagues had it since Monday, pretty neat phone though the memory is very limited (15mb left after loading standard software). Battery also is the K750i battery which apparently doesnt last too long....

I had the p800 and p900, and was looking at this phone too. Mobile square is selling it already.

But read about the bugs in M600i (which I think has the same s/w as P990i), so eventually got an ipaq 6965 instead.

    imaginary,

    How's your HP 6965?
Considering that because the P990i is rather buggy.

Never used a PPC before but heard that the HP 6965 is one of the most stable PPC out there.

So far so good. I had a 6515 before that and I'lll say the 6965 is what it should have been. WM5 comes with pushmail (with an exchange server) and that's also a useful feature for me.

A couple of minor gripes :
    - Wished it had a 2mp autofocus camera like the p990i.
    - still has a bit of lag, but that is inherent in all pda phones.
    - dated design, I think p990i looks better.

I tried the Dopod 838 pro, HP 6965 and P990i at Comex and the best phone that felt good in my hands and was speedy was the Dopod 838 Pro.

Very solid keyboard and fast processor.

P990i was lagging with it's beautiful UI... My p900 is even faster than it.

Hp 6965 is good but keypad a bit small for my fingers. Speed is fine but the screen fonts are a little bigger than what I would expect. 240x240 screen mah.

I see, the 838 pro seems a little bulky for me. Settled for the 6965 'coz I sms with one hand sometimes. Also, I usually have a lightweight laptop with me, so if there's any intensive typing needed, I'll switch to the laptop.
