Today try a simple macro shoot. Using Iso 400 and flash -2/3.
Kindly critique. Mating Butterfly 180mm, 1/100secs@F13 ![]() Butterfly 180mm, 1/125secs@F11 ![]() Dragonfly using high shutter speed 1/500 secs@F3.5 ![]() |

The flash is still too harsh though it was compensated down to 2/3.

nice catch on the mating butterflies.
Anyway, I feel that you could have inched closer for the butts shots to eliminate the messy background. Or shoot with a slightly open aperture like f8? i think you should be able to fill the frame with a 180mm. I havent use one but using 90mm, I can fill about 1/3 to half the frame. regards, tltan |

thanks tltan, I have closeup crops will put up this evening. i try not to levels the slider too much.
