Interesting composition. Would be better if the foreground flower had more areas in focus.

Hi there,

I too seems to have the problem of getting more area to be in focus, appreciate if you can share the way to do it.

Am using D70.

Thanks.

Well, its a control of the DOF. If its a macro lens, and is already at the working distance of the lens, than only way is use a smaller apeture....but that would lead to loss of light....so either use flash to compensate, or tripod mount and use longer exposure.

If its zoom lens, than zoom more, and with the same apeture setting, you get more DOF, and hopefully enought to cover the entire depth of flower.

CM, that cut off stem seemed to detract attention away from the orchid in the foreground.
Might looks cleaner if you were to crop away the Oof stem in the foreground.

Thanks CY and David.

CY: Windy day, non stop. Hence, wide aperture to get fast speed. Also to get rig of the messy background, therefore the shallow DOF.

David: Will see what I can do with it. Do you mean the white little thing there? This was shot at Sentosa near to the Pahlawan Beach and I dun think it is kinda Orchind because the roots are from the soil.

Thanks everyone.

Cheers!

Interesting composition. IMHO, if the two flowers are bit closer to each other, the link between them will be stronger.

Nice shot. But I feel the OOF flower behind has a nicer shape, isn't it?
