Hi Bro Hosea,

I personally like #3 #5 and #6.

#3 is interesting convolutions leading to the subject. if the empty space on the bottom is even out from the top might be better..dont know.

#5 Composition is good. If I do come across this, I would have shot it closer with the 2 buds visible only. the oof right stalk of white flower is distracting and the bud below is sharp due to the thin DOF.

#6 Nice composition and play of light.

Anyway, you got to watch the white part, on all of these favourites, they suffer here and there white burn out. =p

Nice!

tltan

Thanks bro Tan for taking time to give your pointers.
With the lens I have, most of the pix shown here is the closer that I can go....

Just wonder whether most macros shooter crop to enlarge the size of their macro pix
and also ps those unsightly highlight which I find very hard to avoid when I get to
the closer from my lens ( 55mmlens+achromatic).

Hope to find a day to see and learn how macro shooter like u execute macro shots.
Me wanna learn.....just too much to learn in photography but time not enough.

Cheers

Nice collage and series, bro. IMO, #3 & #6 is the best (besides the overblown whites in #6).

Hope you don't mind me commenting. I felt the BG for #4 is a little messy.

Hi Bro,

I try to take it as it is if possible. Unless my lens doesnt allow me to go closer, then do a minor crop to remove unwanted elements. Highlights should be eliminated in composition though as it cannot be rescued already even in RAW.

I hope to be able to execute uncropped pictures, what you take is what you present kind. But then, I sadly am unable to do that nowadays. Probably I would say 70% of what i want to portray can be taken without cropping and 30% require some form of cropping. Am still new in this. Hope to learn more through such discussion.

Hi Bro Tan,
This is a good sharing.. I always though Macros should be shot protraying as it is direct
from the camera with minor ps on contrast, sharpness etc.
Minor crop for alignment or corners should be fine and to crop a small portion of the
photos and present it as macros would mislead ppl to think that that macros lenses
used is able to perform to that standard..guess we are tempted to do this..
I'm still very new here.. so wanna to hear from the many experience macro photographers here.
Like to hear from others here too
Cheers

In my case, I'll do as little cropping as possible, as I compose the pics on the spot. Of course, there will be some times with situation doesn't permit. I don't feel comfortable with a low res pics for a image that I deem nice.

As for pp, I do often do some shading, sharpening and editing, like contrast, levelling and curves to the pics.

Hope this helps.

Nothing wrong with cropping at all seriously. But like Bro Qazwer, I prefer to have a high res pic of those that i like. Cropping, burning and dodging is up to individual preference. But along the cropping process, you lose details and resolution.

Macro lens might not be enough to prevent the additional elements, but through composition, I think you can put these additional elements to good use.
An example, dont know whether you like it boh.

The lighter shade of orange are the petals when oof and appears lighter as its nearer to lens. I was "hopefully" using them to lead to the main subject stretching form the top left hand to the base and up towards the main central subject. Dont know whether this work but i personally like the fieriness of this pic.

Anyway Bro, hope you shoot more and share with us. Always good to learn from each other. =)

Thanks bro for sharing with an example.. good idea to hv distracted items to our benefit.
As for the pix u posted.. u very profound..looking at the pix like playing pool..
In my opinion ,the 2 side petals serve it purpose to enhance but the bottom petal is tad
too big.. just nick pick..
Nevertheless,I always aim to look pix as a whole to admire its beauty...than nick pick.
