cost of replacement of canon shutter = $200.

How about nikon systems, how to determine exact count ?
If like YLSX, his gone through the 4 cycle liao...
Seller can say he seldom use the cam... when it display 100 count
1st, shutter count not = file number
file numbering not = shutter count...

shutter count can't be reset unless you just replace ur shutter. doing a custom whitebalance will also increase the shutter count since it is consider as a normal shot but will not be stored thus file numbering will not increase (for nikon cases).

if 1 got his shutter replaced and his shutter count of the new shutter is about 100, he might lie about that this camera is new, but most of the time there will be user mark after that long period or intensive short period of use unless the seller took great care (gaffering is possible).
but again most buyer who are looking for 2hand dSLR will care more about the shutter count and since it is replaced so it pretty much OK to consider it as new.

    No cause for worries
people hav reported 14 full cycles(and spoiling after due to other reasons than shutter) for cameras like D70.that is like 140,000 shots
i rather worry about storage space 1st..

Sometimes hard to predict cos i've heard cases that shutter fails even before hitting 30K shots.
    Canon EOS 5D, 24-70 f/4 L IS, 50 f/1.2 L, 70-300 f/4-5.6 L IS, 600EX-RT. Sigma 12-24 f/4.5-5.6 EX.

Yeah, but such cases are not common. Worse still, it fails just after yr warranty ends.

For a mid-range to high-end DSLR, i'd rather pay $200 for the shutter change.
