but singtel said that they use dedicated bandwidth while starhub use shared bandwidth? is it true?

no diff to me, i find that both kills my torrent, sianz, which i do most of the time, now have to wait so long for my anime... even with my 30mbps faggygreenpipe... demoralised to download...

but download off a fast server still quite song lah, but nothing much to brag about... esp no hdd space to download, and nobody really upload nice stuff on servers nowadays.

Singnet 1500. Cheap and good. 12 months contract only. Will jump ship if Starhub offers better deal.

Look at it this way, the 1500kbps is only guaranteed between Singnet's servers and your computer (provided your telephone line condition is good). Very much like if you connect a 100base-T line to your modem, that's 100Mbps.

OTOH, when you give someone a shared connection and to claim that you get 6500kbps, then you have got to guarantee a certain quality of service, which means that your pool of shared bandwidth must be of a certain percentage, say maybe around 70-80% of the ttal number of subscribers. So no matter how bad it gets, you will still get your bandwidth unless some idiots aer on fulltime download. Then again, I am confident that Starhub monitors the traffic load and allocate enough bandwidth for the pool.

For $58.80 a month, I'm gettting 2000kbps plus a telephone line (digital voice) for my home. For $47 a month, I'm paying for a 512kbps Singnet broadband for my dad and that's on top of the phone line.

So I'm getting the Singnet account downgraded back to a dialup once the contract runs out in October and terminate the phone line as well.

get the singnet 1500kbps on a 1 yr contract. don't fall for the freebies and get a 2 or 3 yr plan. chances are high that prices are going to fall soon.

I use to chase the singnet / Starhub for their promotions but nowadays i just would aim for the cheapest one. e.g. like the singnet price breaker. dun need to pay them extra for the freebies cause in the end you pay them back. the money anyway

    So i agree with wong1979.

haha ya true, broadband price have been dropping so fast. last time 512kbps from singnet was like close to $60 (2yrs ago) and its now <$40 (33% drop). but iirc few mths back singnet is offering the 512kbps at about $30/mth *2yr contact base* which better than the currect 39.95 plan.
oso rmb theres one 1.5mbps or 3.5mbps offering a ipod nano 4gb ( missed that deal)

Go to 2 friends' homes. 1 with Laghub / 1 with Stinktel.

Try surfing between 7-9pm. Then your choice will be clear

erm dono. but find my singnet 512kbps pretty alrite even shared between 2 comps, slightly slower than early in the morning but still good enough considering its 512kbps only. (for normal web surfing)

    your choice? Qala?

Starhub and Singnet are both experiencing problems... wonder why.

I can't seem to be able to connect to other users properly for the past 1 month or so... This is mose evident when we play DOTA together... Either 1 will lag out from the other network.

    Hmmmmm
