It just happen that most of the professional cameras support CF cards..If one day Canon decide to release a 1DMark3 or Mark4 or even a Nikon D2Xss or D1SS..whatever the name..but it only support sony memory stick..would u buy it?

Would u decide for a camera base on the storage media? Just think, dun answer me.
Reminded me of the SATA and SATA2 issue I had recently.

I wanted to buy an older SATA HD because my previous one died and my motherboad support SATA only. Ended up I could find one that I wanted and have to buy a SATA2 HD and set the jumper switch to 1.5MB/s.

FYI, I don't think manufacturers of prefessional DSLR will change the storage media soon. After all, majority of their technical and marketing feedbacks are from working professionals, like us. Canon happened to use my company (which I am an employee) to do their market research. Every 3 months or so, they mail us a feedback form to fill. Even though our EOS 1Ds Mk2 cameras take both CF and SD, we told them that we actually prefer CF than SD due to higher storage capacity, faster speed and reliablity.

What i think that most dSLR support CF rather than SD was due to last time SD card capacity was d**n small and not very good for people who do intensive shooting thus CF is a better choice. but now with normal SD up to 2gb and SDHC 4GB and up, there is not much reason why not to use SD card.
Last time for SD to even hit 1GB is pretty hard, and even if 1GB, it can only take about 150 raw pic on my d50 which is not very impressive. but now 2GB, one can easily take up to 300 raw shots using a d50

    my 2c.

i do not find anything wrong with sd cards, it is only storage media
and storage media will change, it only depends on when it will change

Don't forget that the pros used to put down digital and only shoot film for quality

take the example of betamax and vhs

look around at the consumer market
and you will see that the SD card is the storage media of choice

DVD players, mobile phones, laptops, mp3 players, video players, tv ... ...
these item are starting to have SD cards slots on them

so now try to look into the near future
    change is a constant

D50 if really budget... Otherwise, pump in a few more hundreds of dollars to get D70s instead... 6.1mega pixel should be good enough... because Canon 350D 8megapixel maybe dun need so big also...
I am NOT a PROfessional photographer and photography is NOT my hobby

    Canon 400D.

Best time to get a new dSLR now but must consider properly.

    A100, D80 and 400D.
