Looking back at some of my virgin shots during teenage years of friends in chalet, birthdays and group outings...
    One word to describe, "Sucks"...
But those moments are captured and they brought back good memories.
Last time is only shoot when there are special occasions with my film P&S.
SLR is definitely out of budget for me then.
Now owning a DSLR is like will shoot on any occasions.
Just hope that these photographs will bring back many good memories
    for the years to come.

Wow... I think I had one long long time back which is plastic, does not have flash, fixed focus using a cheap plastic lens with lots of aberration, only a single shutter speed and does not have aperture control. Yes, it uses 120 film and got a scolding from my dad because I bought it from some pasar malam tikam tikam stall. I had to beg him for a roll of 120 film to try and he think it's a waste of film (he's right). But it was a good lesson for me.

Haiz. showed the pics to his friends(the models) and they just kept very quiet, could feel that they didnt think much of my pics. haiz.

    will keep on trying.

I have been shooting for few years and my skills still lacking behind many of the 'masters' here. I guess more pratices will hone the skills, notwithstanding getting the mentorship of a skilled-photographer... = )

Started in 1989 with a film SLR called the Cosina, gradually moving to a semi-auto SLR called Chinon and was given a 2nd hand Canon AE-1 to play with too. Then graduated to the Pentax Z20 from 1992 until today. Started using Digital cams only in 200 with the HP Photosmart 618 and the SLR-lke 912. Both are still with me today and working (2.1 megapixels). Bought a Fujifilm E550 for the wife to use and got myself the Canon S2 IS, now changed to the Fujifilm S6500FD. Next will be a DSLR but dun know when.

Still struggling with digital format though.

    Happy learning.

i guess it's good you kept your expectation for your own work higher than what you're producing now. let that expectation push your photography, don't let it stop it ... yah just keep on trying, everyone's trying all the time

My first camera was a Chinon and that was 18 years ago.. never really got the hang of it then but i continued shooting through the years going from that $500 camera to a Nikon F90 and my first digital.. that was the Minolta 7Hi. I think that was when thing really started to move. Contrary to what others may say.. Film as a very slow learning curve.. the delay from shutter release to output took days if not weeks. Digital tells u the results there and then and if you are the type to learn from your mistakes.. you will learn fast.

Shooting weddings, on the other hand, isnt as easy. Good wedding photography comes from knowing the proceedings of the wedding itself so you can plan and execute your shots properly.

Developing the 'eye' and optimum use of each of your lenses will help you compose and tell the story whilst using the combination of focal lengths and lighting will help you create your storyboard and set the ambience.

Nothing is ever easy.. but it does get easier the more you do it.

Post processing allows you to add that personal touch to it whilst changing the ambience from a plain boring scene to one that you 'see'. Overdoing it or not is highly subjective.

Started photography quite a few years back with a pns but I dun really count it as a hobby till mid 2005 where I got my first DSLR. That is when I can really say started photography as my hobby... reading, asking, practising, etc.

    Keep shooting!

I would be too... I'm addicted to it.

But for me too expensive to be a hobby, cannot afford to buy very good lens, only can buy what my pocket can afford. But nevertheless, i'm still happy..

you be surprised with wat a PnS can do even.
I see tchuanye's macros with a reverse lens and PnS... I feel like throwing my dslr into the longkang
    its always about the photog.
but if your shooting needs require really specialist gear u can always try improvisation first...

I'm a late starter! LOL. Got my first cam almost 4 years ago, so that's when I started.
