R&D is very strong but that does not translate into good products.

i guess u may be not aware that the products have shown "breakthru" in recent months. Go take a look at low noise capability of the sensor.

I would say they have started behind these two giant, but never under estimate anything, for instance, the success of Nintendo's WII took the world by surprise, leaving Playstation, which was much talked about trailing behind in leaps and bounds.

until you can convince all the journalists, pros, and publications to dump C&N gears, not in the near future... Unless something like an internal meltdown in terms of how the C&N are ran, it'll be a loooooooooooong way before Sony can even come close to the support that C&N has with the pros.

People don't seem to realise that sony products are highly sought after, having endless innovation, quality, branding and strong R&D incoporated.
Ideally, everyone would get one if not for the killer-price

it is the man behind the camera & the photoshop, not the camera.

u made your own composition, not the camera make composition for you.

Eow, ROI changes when pocket changes... it is a relative, not a constant.

we dun live for photography only, life is more than that.

    in consumer markets, maybe..

as in professional systems, don't think so, Nikon and Canon take twenty thirty years of building the strong foothold in professional arena, will not be overthrow within a few years or a decade.

in other words, wait till Sony send the their Alpha into the space than we talk again.

    No need to.
    Different market segments.
    To each his own.

In fact the non pro slice of the consumer pie is larger.
    More money to make there.

Sony moves in and out of product lines. It may just sell the camera business one day.

Like 5 to 10 years ago it was heralding Mini Discs.
Now Sony killed their own MD divisions.

Like in hifi you have people making Onkyo to serve one sector.
And another making Mark Levinson for another type of buyer.
One consumer is not "superior" to another.
    They just have different needs.
