    Advantage
    ========
    1. Cheap and has long rang 300mm 1.5x as you are using D70s = 450mm
    2. Additional Macro function at 200mm-300mm
    3. Still able to produce reasonably sharp image

    Dis-advantage
    ===========
    1. f5.6 at 300mm u need to up ISO to at least 800-1000 if not on a very bight sunny afternoon as you need to maintain the rule of thumb to avoid camera shake. (Alot of times I have to up to 1600 too )
    2. AF is relatively slow
    3. Macro at 1:2 at 300mm and as point no 2 u need high ISO to do so

    Above is what I personally feel as I'm using D70s with this lens. Can add more if anyone can think of. My personnal feel is that if you are like me new to photography you can try this lens 1st. Alot are goin at B&S and you can get it at a good price. It actually depends on what you are going for.

    hi Glay78,

    any idea for the cheaper variant (70-300 non APO) version? Thinking of getting it with D50 cos of its long zoom, macro and low price. recommended?

    Affordable, good lens to start. Have macro function. Quality do not fall behind the same price Nikkor lens.
