    looks like there is more than one way to achieve the desired result.

    another one will be duplicate another layer and change its blend mode to softlight/hardlight.

    A quick way is if there's not much smoke, you can underexpose the shots so it becomes less obvious. I'm assuming pictures were taken in raw format.

    Hi
    If you shot on RAW, then you can adjust the shadows, which darkens the areas around the brighter fireworks and helps reduce the amount of visible smoke.

    hello.

    i'll do a mix of everything:

    burn, contrast, curves.
    can play with shadows/highlights in PS too, tho it doesnt work perfectly sometimes..
