hi Hosea,

You have an interesting series of night photoraphs.

Based on yr Moonlight Huts, I like the blue night sky illuminated by the full moon and the subtleness of star trails. Were you using 35mm slide film or a dSLR? Different brand of dSLR produces different night sky color e.g. Nikon produces warm brown color cast which is unnatural and dirty, Sony produces purplish sky. Probably due to the camera settings or the kind of in-built sensor. I'm a film user so pardon me for my lack of digital night photography.

I see that you used light-painting technique on yr Ghostly Move. I did a couple of nocturne shots myself using slide film and the results I get for the night sky is green-colored cast.

Appreciate if you care to share yr thoughts and making of all yr night pictures?

Thank you.

Hi Mezzotint
Thanks for viewing and comment.

I am using a Nikon DSLR .Late Night photography is subjected to quite a numerous
factors such as the surrounding light available and if u are doing light painting, it also depends
on the beam of light (wide or narrow, colour of light, etc).
The camera setting such as the WB could be one of the factors that affect the colour cast.

Film is a tad "complicated". With much experiment, we might able to predict the light effect
(Candescent or Florescence) on the different kind of film or slide used.
DSLR users have the advantage to change its WB & exp time to see the effects instantly.

You might want to try with different "colours beam" of light to see its effect.
Shooting under a complete darkness is desirable too.

I dont really have good answers .

Hi Martin and Stan,

Very good to see interesting exchange of informations and knowledge-sharing.

To me, both film and digital cameras have their pros and cons in Night Photography, but the techniques and concepts should be somewhat quite similar.

Some of us are still in the experimental and learning stages, all these are very useful information. Hope to see more exchange of ideas for all to share and learn. Cheerz.

Hey really nice series you got there
When is your next late night night shot again? Being looking for someone who can do late night photography during weekdays. Is quite scary to do it alone. Especially during the month of hungry ghost..

Hey, thanks or viewing and glad you like this series.
Not advisable to go alone for late night shoot for safety sake.
Normally, my late night shoots is impromptu. For a start, if u r staying at Simei... there are quite a numbers of good "dark area" such at the Expo/Changi and certain part of Tampines.
Do you drive? It is an essential when you want to shoot during wee hours.
Hmm... u don’t have to work on weekdays?
