    Well honestly if you're not playing games a notebook would be more than enough. Just upgrade the ram to 4GB cos that's the max that PS can use. Assuming you need it only for photographic applications of course.

    And i can't imagine bringing a desktop around for tethered shooting.

    Well, now with wireless every where, having a notebook is definitely my choice. I can access internet anywhere in the house, use it in bed, in living room, bath room, kitchen and etc. Frankly speaking who fully used the RAW power of the CPU?

    Used to own 3 desktop 5 years ago. But since 3 years back I own 3 notebooks, and will only use IBM thinkpad. From the A series to X serise to T series, they never fail me. All 3 still running.

    My X series notebook runs 24 by 7 for 2 years already, still going strong.
