Actually, here's how I looked at this idea.
-Only full-time shooter,
-only 10 people, unless people leave, then can join,
-only like-minded shooter with a certain quality that
those in the group can agree on.
Not just as long as you can afford kind.
I tot this has already discuss before, and something is in the pipeline?
anyway, we can a local (professional) photographers portal, pay a fee to be listed, have a own bio and portfolio page.
in fact ClubSnap can do this also..
Hi max, if you still remember the last gethering, this was mention before, it would be good if you find the people that you want to team up, support each other. not just for advertising only.Originally Posted by Max 2.8
Why don;t you pro photogs pool together and start a new bridal forum? All pro photogs who want to advertise will be discounted lor....why pay so much to other forum's steep charges..
I mean to run a server and webpages should'nt be that tough right? Can ask Clubsnap admins for advice also.....
Just imagine the tag line:" Bridal PIX forum by Pro photographers"
my 2 cents.
I lup SG, but SG don't love me...
I dun remember actually, what we discuss in the last meeting....anyway, that meeting....dun say lah....maybe too many people.
You said, its not fair to the forum owner, but looked at it in another way,
10 shooters with not enough money to advertise in the forum = no money for forum owner
10 shooters pooled a sum of money to advertise in the forum = 1 sum of advertising fee
Of course, those that can afford already no need to do that lah.
Actually this idea is not to produce another wedding forum, it'll only be just another forum.
Its more like helping each other to run this very very tough business together. The reason to have only like-minded people is also to uphold a certain standard of photography within this alliance so this web-alliance is known for good standard of photography, it really is to help each other in one way or another.

I already have a few shooters in mind but they didn't appear in this thread yet leh....
Was trying to lure them out for a discussion.
Also I think most can afford to advertise in forums and prints....
I believe the portal ownder would rather see you as in a company has ten photographers just list the company name, instead of 10 photographers share the cost of listing and list 10 names.Originally Posted by Max 2.8
another idea is to have a local photographers portal, don't just do wedding only, is about all type of photography, be it commercial, advertising, industrial, editorial, portraits, weddings etc..
all photographers are paid to be listed, like a directory of local photographers, a place to showcase photographers' works, a place for clients to look for photographers, and many more functions for clients and photographers.

Thats a nice idea too, but not to my preference. because too many people, the directory or portal bound to suffer quality lost because you can't control the standard. As long as people paid, they can list their company there. Much like what the wedding forums now have. Also too commercialised liao
Very workable. But need to register with the Registry of Societies, keep proper accounts, have lawyers draw up constitution etc. Excellent chance for a real professional photographer's society. When certain car enthusiasts came together to form a club once, I remember the founders going through these proceedings. Tho they had lawyers amongst them. Dunno what else is involved though.Originally Posted by catchlights
Most Associations get their funding from Sponsors and ad revenue. Get 2 (selfless, energetic and influential photographers) to form an association to recruit ordinary voting members (professional photographers). Draft a constitution to outline purpose and rules, invite associate non-voting members (amateur and hobbyists) and sponsor members (Canon, Fuji, Nikon, etc).Originally Posted by shinken
It’s not just for “poor” OMO, it’s a business-generating vehicle for all involved. The more established set-ups would be interested to get involved too. With no “incentives”, no member and no sponsor.
My 2.5 cents contribution for a good initiative.
We already have an Association for the Professional Photographers in Sinagpore, it set up many years ago, and I used to be a member.Originally Posted by shinken
