Default Advice on U/W photography

Hi all,
I just got an U/W casing for my Nikon Coolpix 5200 digital camera. This is a P&S camera so I am not expecting to match any of the photographs posted here but to learn how to take decent U/W photographs for my diving scrap book. Maybe if I am convinced I have some promise, I will get a more professional outfit.

Anyway, as a first timer, can anyone give me advice on what to do and what to avoid? For example should I have the flash on at all times, with the diffuser? What settings should I set? Should I zoom out and then crop the picture or zoom-in and move up close? How to avoid bluish tint in the photos? Will the casing or the lens fog up? How to test that the casing is sealed and not leaking before entering the water? And others?

Thanks.

Hi, in case you are wondering why it is all quiet under this thread, it's because there were many such questions posted here before and the responses can be easily found by doing a search.

There are also many web sites which provide good introduction to new comers in UW photography, and it's worth a search too. You'll probably get a lot more information in these sources above than waiting for direct member reponses to your post here.

Cheers!
