    2) Olympus E500 kit, ZD 40-150mm, 3GB CF and the usual bag, tripod n dry box etc....+ 2yrs entended warranty by HN for $1599 (by credit card)

will be using it for any photo taking...any thing under the sun how's the ease of uses.

    tks!

If you intend to upgrade your DSLR or switch brand in future, perhaps it is better to get one that uses CF cards.

not impossible but much harder with the same shutter speed like 1/60 at 200mm (300mm equiv)

If I do not have any system, I would say that the Oly E500 is quite a good buy, and don't need to be too overly concened about the FF. And I quite like the sensor cleaning on startup.

    NIKON

The only way to go if you want 'easy-to-find' second-hand lenses and accessories.

i wonder why magazines never compare more entry level DSLR bodies. it is always nikon D50 v.s. canon 350D. is olympus, pentax, sony/KM really uncomparable?

are you sure that in the future CF cards will not become obsolete?

It's possible! This is a handheld shot with 300/4. You just have to play with your shutter speed, aperture and ISO.

    D2X ISO800 1/500", 300/4 @ f/4, full image resized and sharpened

    This is the 100% crop.

Hence, I used the word 'quite', didn't say 'totally' or 'absolutely'. Think with the existence of IS systems these days, few new photographers would want to spend the effort to train for super steady hands.
