Did I hear New? Could you just share what was the price now for the E-1? Assume it came with the 14-54mm Kit lens? Where did you get it?
Pic looks good. Am aiming to get one too.... |

Erm, from Cameta Cameras in the US. I got a friend to buy it for me while he was there. The E-1 Body + 14-54mm + SHLD-2 costs USD999. I got the E-1 Body + SHLD-2 at USD599. Do note that a 10% VAT is applicable. |

The price has made the E-1 far more assessible to many people, and they are starting to realise that the E-1 has quite an unquantifiable feeling to it (read: X-factor). The Oly forum at DPReview is full of praise for the E-1, but trust me, reading about only does so much, the real addiction is in the actual handling of the cam. Anyway, my friend did tell me that Cameta still has stacks and stacks of E-1s.... |

![]() Taken at ISO 3200; I actually find the noise pattern of the E-1 quite charming; of course it may not be appropriate for all occasions, but for the above example it does add some character to the photo, what do you guys think? ![]()

Just saw the pics at ISO 3200. It is amazing! Was this under natural indoor lighting? I have sent a few emails to sellers in US but they refused to ship to Singapore. Wonder why?
Other than the US, are there any other place selling this camera? I was thinking of another alternative....buy and have it shipped to HK, and I will pick it up from there. Otherwise, need to wait for someone to go US and bring it back. Is the Cameta shops located in major cities? THanks!

The ISO 3200 pics have that film graininess about them. In the example that I posted the pic didn't go through any noise reduction post processing. Cameta is based at Amityville, about a 45 minute train ride from NYC. To plastic: Yup, very glad to be here!

Well, for now overglorified paperweight! As for the SHLD-2, marc5 is selling his. Just a warning though, with the SHLD-2, you MAY be charging your battery once in three months... causing severe underutilization of the charger. And yes, the SHLD-2 is weatherproofed as well.

drakon09,
Welcome to the E-club! I don't want to be negative but I think you should check and adjust your WB. In the first image I think you have too much red and in the second too much blue. I am not an expert on E-1 (have E-500) so I can not say how to do it but definitely WB seems to be off. |

No worries, Olyflyer.
Actually the WB is spot on. My kitten's pic was shot while the evening sun was shining on her. My other cat was lying on my sheets (which was a bright blue), the blue tinge at the bottom is the reflection from the ceiling lights. The E-1's WB system is arguably the most accurate out there. With my E-300 the glow of the evening sun would probably be cancelled out; for the second pic the other areas would probably be too warm. Thanks for the feedback!
