go marina square, they now have shops selling only 1 specific brand, unlike those normal one that sells shoes from all brands.

or you can go to the "running lab" at funan. their sells person has very good knowledge on all the shoes they sell, hance able to help you to select the correct shoe for the specific purpose that you want to use it for.

season shoes? i thought running shoes have a lifespan of 500km only?
That's right. About 300 miles or so. After that have to retire that shoes; come to think of it is actually quite soon you have to buy a new pair if you are a seasoned runner.

Its really hard to make comparisons between brands, 'coz all brands have such a large range of shoes, ranging from the lightweight, less cushioned ones to the heavier but better cushioned models. You might like one Asics model but find another one totally unusable, likewise for NB, Nike, Saucony, Adidas etc. As far as buying running shoes, brand is the last thing I care about. For me, the fit, cushioning (not too much!), weight and price are the important considerations.

Having said that, I've used up 2 pairs of NB 766 over the last year and currently into my 3rd pair, training for and running in a marathon, and now gearing up for another one. Very nice shoes and affordable.

Feder Sports at Peninsula Plaza. I have been buying shoes from them since the 1980s.

Recently, I switched shop to Running Lab at Funan Center. They give me 20% discount because I 'sort-of' trained their staff on shoes technology and how select the ideal running shoes for different foot type.

The best running shoes I have used so far is Saucony - light and very good cushioning.

Yes, I know the boss of Running Lab well. We went to the US to study during the same time, however both of us went to different universities. I went in New York while he chose Boston.

BTW, he owns Planet Travelers at Marina Square also.

Did you sign up for the Mizuno Run 2006?

BTW, New Balance running shoes were made popular by our current Prime Minister (A long-time patron of New Balance Tech Shop at the old Plaza Singapura). He wore NB 990 since his BG years (I saw him running at Khatib camp a few times). About 10 years ago, he proposed to Mindef to change all PT shoes to NB.

ya, join the men's open for Mizuno Run 06 (joined last year too), it is one of the event I took part yearly like Standard Chartered.

anyone interested can also consider the 2nd Link Singapore-Malaysia Run 10Km, you will improve running with the Malaysians.

Have not wear Mizuno, Nike, Adidas running shoe before, so can't really comment.

anyway it is more of personal choice, now more people are going for adidas products, it is the main sponser for Standard Chartered Marathon, and the advertisement is pretty aggressive.

    * I have taken 2 pictures for the last 3 years Standard Chartered marathon medals, interested can have a look at my gallery.. 10k, 21.1km and 42.195km.

Actually, Saucony is a lesser known brand in Singapore and some of the well known brands like Nike, Adidas, etc. are over-hyped. For serious running, I would say Saucony, Mizunno, Asics and NB are the better brands.

Less and less professional runners and marathoners are wearing Nike running shoes in the US today. There are a few of them still run with Adidas and Reebok, but most of them prefer either, Saucony, Mizuno or Asics. More and more people are switching over to these Japanese brands though.

Since New Balance sponsors the Boston Maranthon, I think it is 'sort of' the main-stay brand.

does anyone own the 1060? can you share your experience with the 1060 or NB shoes in general? i usually use saucony and mizuno and this is the first time i've tried NB.

i paid top dollar for a top end shoe and i'm suspecting it's a fake.
I am using this model too 1060 when it claim its the latest model bought it at $140 at sportlink queensway.. the cushioning is ok.. no problem for me.
