decent attempt. I'd suggest ISO 100, F8 to F16, and of cos, bulb. ISO400 is too bright for esp the white coloured Fireworks. May I know how did you get to Marina east? the roads to the golf courses are open? Was the area crowded?

Initially I try to use ISO 200, F16, realise that I need long expose time (15 secs and above), else the background (cbd) will be under exposed.....really headache Any suggestiob abt this ?? or should I try +0.7 EV ?? I go there thru Tanjung Rhu, Costa Rhu Condo, there's a small track under ECP, all you need to do is walk along the riverside. I reach there before 7pm coz I don't know that place is accessible or not, if not accessible I still can rush back to Esplanade bridge There's only few ppl fishing there and no photographer until 8:45pm 2 groups of ppl approach the place I stay... |

The angle a little too wide for my liking... what effective focal length did you use?
hehe.... now I might want to try that angle as well.... ![]() |

Marina East (Tanjong Rhu) is one of the 3 locations I intend to take the SFF from, the 2 other being Riverwalk Apartments (taken yesterday already) and Bras Basah Complex flats.
I took fireworks from Marina East about 6 months ago : http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthread.php?t=177171 But then, like threadstarter, I didn't move left wards enough and the fireworks blocked the background. My plan is to take on a weekday (this coming Tuesday, 8 Aug or Friday, 11 Aug) because the background would be nicer as the buildings will be more lighted by office lights. That place is extremely dark and so remember to bring a torch light. It's also a bit eerie if you imagine things, especially when 8 Aug is the 15th day of the lunar 7th month. ![]() For a few times in the past, I went alone but it wasn't the lunar 7th month. I think it's better to go in a group this time. May be can meet up? I did a latest recce just last Tuesday, 1st Aug. This is the view you get from moving all the way until there is a security post preventing further inwards where there is massive construction works going on. Picture taken last Tuesday. Need to zoom in a bit to get a better composition during fireworks. I think this angle is slightly better as the fireworks would mostly be somewhere between UOB and the Esplanade and probably only cover a small part of the right side of the group of tall buildings on the left : ![]() One of the ways to get there is along the river bank from Costa Rhu Condo area, through underneath the Benjamin Shears Bridge. It would take about 20 minutes. Picture taken last Tuesday : ![]() Alternatively, I think can either 1) go into the Golf club main entrance and go along the fence where some parts were (are?) still open for workers to move between the club and their workers quarters or 2) cut through the workers' quarters (which I did on my way back to Tanjong Rhu) and then move along outside the fence of the Golf club and sometimes inside since some parts were still open. More pictures for those interested to shoot at this location :
This is about the furthest you can go left-wards. There is a make-shift security post on the left side of the picture immediately after the metal pipes (railings) in the picture. I went over the railing and the security guard immediately approached me. Later I made friend with him and asked him about the various ways of getting there. ![]() Here is another view (zoom in a bit) on the buildings on the left (the time of the day wasn't ideal for a landscape shot, backlighted ![]() ![]() |

thanks bro for pointing out this issue Yes it's dark. But I was lucky as there a ship with strong spot light cleaning the river bed. I even hv to use my body to block the light to prevent flare (lens hood already applied). So I never think of lunar 7th month, I only think if snake approaching me, should I run or jump into the water I'll go there on 8 Aug, if wanna meetup, which place is better? Ajunied MRT (to take bus 158) or Costa Rhu Condo ? Last edited by vincent9999; 6th August 2006 at 05:59 PM. |
