K100D Shake Reduction really works!

I was lucky to be able to get my hand on the new Pentax K100D dSLR. One of my colleague is so eager to get his hand on this new dSLR that he ordered his from bhphoto. Its fast.. the parcel sent out on Tuesday morning and he received it on Thursday afternoon. *very fast*...

For the rest of the guys out there who can't wait for it to hit the shelf in Singapore. Buying from U.S site is an option.

Anyway, I want to comment that K100D SR really works! That is if u shoot 'normally', not to purposely shake it.
- using the kit lens, I am able to shoot sharp indoor image down to 1/4sec w/o any problem.
- test it out on a manual focus vivitar 70-210mm f2.8-4 zoom out at 210mm indoor. manually preset the SR to work on 200mm. And its amazing that it work beautifully down to 1/15sec easily.

I didn't have much time to review his camera in detail. I must said, I am amazed. Lovely, as it instantly bring "IS" to all the Pentax mount lenses.

Another thing that I noticed. The AF speed is faster!!.. I compared it with my *ist D.

bhphoto seems to be down the past 24 hrs.
so how much did you pay for the camera? it sounds great although we will need to check if shriro will honour the international warranty.

also, I think the interest in the international community for this camera is low...its been out so long as so few reviews. I would have liked one comparing it to the isdDL and maybe the Nikon D50..

Nope, it is not my camera. I mentioned that my colleague bought it from bhphoto. All-in-all, less than SGD1270 after paying GST tax to UPS in Singapore.

Personally, I feel that K100D is the best pentax dSLR till date. It doesn't matter if it is pentamirror as I don't see much different to my *ist D having pentaprism. AF-speed is noticeable faster than *ist D when I mount a slow Takumar-F zoom lens having front rotating element to judge the difference. But don't ask me how much faster. I am not a stopwatch.

Then how many people can actually hold a camera down to 1/4sec?? With K100D, anybody also can!

I hope Pentax is able to play catch-up with this K100D. Its really a good camera at such an affortable pricing compared to those C, N and lately the S.

There are many reviews and photo sample of this camera from those japanese website.

Sad that none of the major sites like dpreview, dcresource, steve-digicams and megapixel has bothered with a review....even the brand new Sony Alpha will be reviewed soon...sigh..
