Vosonic VP8360 recording file to play on other device

Have recorded some TV show in the VP8360 and try to play the file with other device but it doesn't support. The file VP 8360 recorded is in MP4 format.

Have copy the file to my friend Sarotech HDD player whch support MP4 but he cannot play the file. He tried to use a few software converter like WinAVI/AutoGK/Riverpast to convert to the MP4 to AVI format but it prompt an error message<can't decode this file! may be the file us broken or system not install the decoder!>

Any one out there know any software which can convert the VP8360 MP4 format to AVI or Divx?
