Default Invisible dining companion

I'm now practising the art of being invisible a la Bresson.

It's amazing how people don't notice you if you do things naturally. I was sharing a table for lunch at a food court. After finishing my lunch, I raised my camera and snapped a shot. None of my table companions realised the picture had been taken (or maybe they were just too polite).

Yes, IXUS. Small, discreet, silent. Set to ISO 200, good enough for indoor lighting. I never zoom in, so it's a 35mm f2.7 lens. Only problem is the shutter lag.

By the way, what do you think of the composition?

composition is good and overall the picture is enhanced by the almost straight fork and spoon lined up side by side on the finished plate....now is that a planned thing?

In street photography, B&W removes the distraction of colour and lets you focus on the subject and its emotions. In this case, you'll probably have garish colours from the wall, the funny artificial lighting in the foodcourt, the food, etc which can be rather distracting.

Even the woman on the left also didn't realise you took their pictures?

Well said. Yes, there was a horrid yellow cast, so no choice, anyway.

It helps that eye contact is usually studiously avoided when sharing tables in a food court.

The shot wasn't planned. I had finished eating, when I was struck by the contrast between the empty plate and the people in front of me still eating.

Interesting shot...always wanted to try out street photography but not sure how well other people will react when they see that you are taking a photo of them. Singaporeans seems to be quite camera shy...

I'll try that the next time. After blinding my subjects with the flash, I will be truly invisible to them. Then I can run away...
