Default Sights fr Tanjong Rhu...

Was there to watch the fireworks for the NDP preview last Sat which ended quite fast.. couldn't shoot the fireworks w my cam so ended up taking scenary shots w the Canon ixus55... common shots but it's my first!

Not sure if it's better to position the Indoor Stadium in the centre #4 or higher in order to show more of the reflection #2.

Feel free to comment on the pics.. but dun critique the border.. keke cos I'm struggling with PS.. I'm sure there's a shorter and better way to do it.. jus can't figure it out yet.. think i must get Photoshop for dummies.. grrhhh...

quite nice shots, #3 is over exposed

just a question, where will the firework appear? say in picture #1
over the indoor stadium? or more towards the left?
Can it be seen clearly from cosy bay?

don't think you can see fireworks from pic #1 angle, can't even see indoor stadium. Fireworks should be more to the right side.

Thanks... I saw a lot of photographers there too.. mostly with tripods n DSLR... Mine was a canon ixus only.. so stand corner corner... but i saw a guy very relaxed.. sitting at the corner over the ledge, cam propped up on his bag.. a remote in his hand.. so when the fireworks came he jus let his thumb do the job.. Steady siah..

I don't really understand what you mean by #3 overexposed? U refering to the floodlights near behind the Cosy bay structure? It's kinda distracting... Couldn't help it though cos the NDP preview jus ended..so they turned on the floodlights..

It's better to stand opposite the Indoor stadium. And you get shots like this.. (these r bad shots so dun judge the pic.. keke) You can go over to the Reportage and Sports gallery n see the better shots there..

beautiful shots, esp #4.

i use photoshop elements 3.0.

image > resize > canvas size
then you can extend edges in black/grey/white in terms of mm, pixels, percentage.
likewise you can crop also.

Thks... but i was wondering if u hv a lot of pic to touch up.. it'll be a very tedious process. tried using automate but realise the pic size and cropping are kinda different so can't to a quick fix.. as for the white lines i ended up using a brush tool to draw it across.. some times i've to redraw as the thickness doesn't come out quite right... super leh cheh siah..

sorry but i didn't know of batch edit so can't help. but what i can suggest is to group your photos into different folders of different size (may i ask why you have different sizes?) and then apply changes to all at the same time.

yes, i do have a lot of photos to edit but i still do them individually to give them that personal touch.

my system
1. group into vertical and horizontal
2. group into (focus in) and (blurred) and some that i can't decide whether i want them (undecided)
3. then i will edit those in (focus in) selectively and save a link to another folder (selected)

i think it is good to just have a few nice one rather than plenty of average pics. that is why i do things individually

Steady hands?? Small maybe, steady? not sure.. shall try more night shots n see if this was by luck.. Was taking at ISO 50.. trying to reduce the noise level.. so held my breathe n all.. haha..

Or maybe the canon ixus is light.. in fact when i use dslr, I tend to be more unsteady cos it's too heavy for me to the extent that my hand may shake after prolonged use.. plus I'm not used to it.. keke
