People who can afford a Vertu phone can definitely afford any Nokia phones and why they choose the former is because they see the value in paying for it. Yes, you are going to cut down on the number of clients coming to you and at the same time, slow down your take up rate. But if you're patient enough, the bookings will come when the right people comes along.
Like what most of you said, wouldn't you feel great when clients book you because they like your work, not because you're the cheap one. Because if they do harbour that kind of thinking, you can be dead sure that one the day you deliver the prints, they'll still be griping by the fact maybe they should have paid for someone cheaper.
Two of my friends who've stopped part-timing in wedding photography had the same experience whereby couples actually criticised the photos left right centre and asked for a discount from the $600 package.
