wow.. 90% sure this will be my next lens.. Much lighter than the 70-200, with HSM, is an EX lens... better than the 50-135 IMHO...

hmmm... can consider as a portable travel portrait lens.
70/80-200mm will be killing me to bring on travel, the 135.1mm length also make people less suspicious ![]()

Very interesting leh.
Looks like Sigma, Tokina and Tamron all getting into the act - churning out lenses meant for APS size sensor. Smaller, lighter and cheaper pro quality lenses. Very soon, those big mama lenses would become like the grandfather clock, dinosaurs. Only good for the collectors, the nostalgic and the masochist or muscleman with oversized biceps to carry them around. And also a phallic symbol perhaps. I guess in the next 5 years or so, the APS sensor is here to stay, at least for the amateur range of cameras.

hmmm, it is not even on the sigma american site yet............................
Are the wordings used on the website hebrew? 150mm seems to be a little short leh, would still prefer it to be at 200mm. End of the day, still have to look at the price. |

50-150mm in 1.5x cropped factor = 75-225mm in camera term, which was what most 70/80-200mm f/2.8 lenses was designed for in the first place, just about the right distant for portrait shots

590euro works out to be around 1.2k for local exchange rate.. which is not really cheap? but the focal distance is rather useful for a walkabout lens imo.

Anyone knows the availability? I -REALLY- really want this lens...
new sigma lenses tend to be priced cheap when they're 1st released.. then they slowly adjust the prices up... I've set aside $1.2k for this lens already.. at 770g, I guess this will be one of those carry everywhere lenses.. certainly alot more carryable than a 1.4kg sigma 70-200 or a 1.6kg canon 70-200 |
