something dumb..

hey guys..just got my new Metz 32-z1..in my excitement..i kinda overzealously over-tightened the locking nut..
any ideas on how to untighten it w/o damaging it?

the plastic's kinda cheapo...rather soft..got a few minor scrathes here n there liao..

how...? WD 40??
