Your right to critique is constitutionally protected.

So is also the right to flame you.

Well i think everyone has the right to say or voice out what he or she feel what is right or wrong. But has to be constructive and civil manner.

Never be misled by critics with unconstructive comments and unsound knowledge.

BUT base ur critic constructively and defend the reason behind ur criticism.

Anyone can be a critic, but the value of a criticism lies in the reason behind the criticism and being able to get the rationale behind it, not just blindly criticise like say, "No good. Lousy." and when asked, "Why?" an absolute lame reply like, "Becos its no good! Dats why." comes.

That's criticising for the sake of it. Non constructive and can be thrown in the trash can, TOGETHER with the one issuing it.

Its simple, if you want the right then just do it, everyone is entitled to their opnion., whether it has any substance or not is a different matter.

Comments and critics are nothing but individual preferences about certain things..what one likes might not be what others want it to be..everyone can give comments and critics but the other party can also choose to ignore if its not relevent or take it if it can improve oneself... have a great Sunday...(ignore this comment... )

Everyone has the right to critique. But not everyone is able to give sound critique and provide reasons for their likes or dislikes.

I'm sure there's quite a few of us out there who have a terrible portfolio yet like to look at images and discuss them with others...that includes me. When you give critique on an image, it can also be beneficial to you, because you're 'talking it through' and making it clear what you like about the image, the things you dislike, and then putting in a reminder to yourself to take special care before taking the photo should you land in a similar situation.

Anyone has the right to critic. Afterall a non-photographer can be a photographer's target audience and he has the right not to like the photo.

That said, there's no good or bad critic. All should be taken objectively.
If you understand my works, it's photography. If you don't, it's art.

Everyone is entitled to his/her own Point of views of a photo.
Even a non-photographer.Because the photo is meant for public viewing, not for photographers to view...who cares who critiques the photo.

The forum/internet is a free for all thing - and we have all sorts of people around. Some are genuine sifu, guru and experts and comment accordingly. There are also others who have nothing but craps, or someone calls it verbal diarrhea - an euphemism of horse sh*t.

So, if you get negative comments, just don't take it too seriously. Just look at how some of the judges comments in Singapore Idol.

I have 4 points to make

    • A critic is someone who analyses, evaluates, judges and comments based on his expertise.

    • every1 is entitled to his/her own views and comments on a photo that is posted.

    • However, some tend to be backseat drivers whilst others are fault-finding.

    • Therefore, every1 should noe his limits and give constructive criticisms but also give credit where it is due.

Eveyone has got right to critique, but the rules of any forums or platforms have "higher" right than yours, and as such it is what you critique is more relevant.
Also critiques must be impartial, objective and have no bad motive, and equally important is that one has to be civil.

I agree, plus also, if your going to find all the bad points in the image (fault finding) at least put something positive/constructive (unless there really isnt anything positive to say)

    Good example : Simon Cowell

He can't sing, can't dance, average looking
Yet he is the most popular AI judge.

A good wine taster doesn't neccessary means he is able to produce great wine.

yes you should if you are asking for something which you cannot do. thats just empty talk.

to the original threadstarter, if you think you are lousy. you should also refrain from commenting too much... just post your personal opinion as to if you like it should be sufficient.
