Default Night shoot

This pic is a crop from a 30 sec exposure. Aperture was F11, and ISO is at 80. The big prob here is that i realised there is no way i can obtain a sharp focus on the neon words (like the HSBC). Wad is the problem? I've tried using manual focus but to no avail.

Here are my few cents as well...

I agree with LightStalker that it is a bit over exposed. I guess if you had metered according to the whole cityscape, Fullerton would be overexposed cos it's the brightest building of all. (Think so)

I assume you used a tripod... should be.
Also, I think f11 doesn't give the sharpest pic cos I noticed a difference when I used f8 and f11 to take photo of the moon. f8 was significantly sharper. Try aperture sizes between f5.6 and f8.

Have fun experimenting man... I'm still learning how to optimise my FZ30

its not a problem of shake or not... the exposure is way way way off... more than 3stops if you wan to capture nicely exposed neon light (that would mean the other building will be very dim)

You could try to take 2 shots consecutively using the same aperture, but different exposure timings.

Then overlay the 2 shots, so that the overall buildings are nicely exposed, and yet the lighted words are also properly exposed.

Does take a bit of photoshop, but the results are worth it no?
