    nice shot. pity the water and sun is blown out.

    did u use a GND?

    also sun still seems pretty high. did u take any shots a bit later? would have got a softer light.

    GND won't help in this situation.
    It's best to exclude the sun out of the frame or wait until it hide behind the cloud.

    edit: also the baby's head merge with the background is quite distracting.

    Poor presentation. Technically, the blown-out sun is distracting. The baby's 'merging' head is a pity.

    If I am correct, the lady in the picture is pregnant. Maybe you should shoot it from a different angle. I will tell a better story.

    did u try a different angle? your kid's silhouette is blended with the distant treeline. reduces the impact dramatically

    a GND only cut down two stops the most on the top part,
    how many stops you think need to cut down for the sun not to blown out?

    I would frame the silhouette of the mother and child against the sun and the water reflection of the sun.

    and you need a little sharpness as well.

    for me, i will choose to lower myself shoot against the sun and flame the silhouette of the mother and child, and with the sun

    im ok with it overall except for the lack of sharpness (focus on the 2 persons)
    smaller aperature?
