Hi Everyone,
I am very keen to go part time into photography. So here are some options I like to delve and venture into. I wanna try part time or freelance b4 considering diving into full time. Some background info on myself. I am a 3D Designer, Computer Graphic Artist and Animator. So I have experiences in Architecture, Interior, Design and sense of artistic feel. Of course I know Photoshop pretty alright. Based on these skills and knowhows, I wanna see how far it can take me in the business and career of Photography. 1) Stock Image company - Local or Overseas (GettyImage, Corbis, etc) Any advise on this? Viable or very tough work. 2) Freelance assignments - not fix and hard to find. 3) Work in publishing company. 4) Not sure what are the other options. Any recommendations based on your experiences will be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

maybe this thread could have been in kopititam? i don't mean it's mere chit-chat, though i see it more asking for advice than offering of services at the moment.
i would say your options are plenty open. for freelance work, my personal experience starting out was getting work from contacts or people i already know. what kind of photography interests you? |

Which ever area you ultimately deicide on going into, my sugggestion is to do so with your passion and enthusiasm. Evaluate your strengths and weakness in photography and focus on the strengths. Photography, whether part or full time as a business, requires, strategic planning, marketing and branding (positioning yourself). Do capitalize on the art of business networking to establish yourself in the long run.

Agreed with snowspeeder
Another advice - Try working as an assistant photographer first. You would get an inside view of what the pro are doing, see there set-up, then you can accesses the whole works of being a full-time photographer. I BEING THERE AND I DONE IT AND STILL ASSIST PART TIME ![]() |
