Ahhhh I am a FX01 user! I just took up photography and bought the cam 3 months ago at $690 with free 1 GB card. Yours is quite a bargain I think.
The cam works fine for me except I can't set aperture and there is no viewfinder. I think the main problem is noise at around ISO 200 above but you can fix that quite easily with Noiseware. It is an excellent cam in good light though. And I love the 16:9 widescreen! If you don't mind, perhaps can see my humble gallery using the cam. http://sugary88.deviantart.com/ |

I bought an FX01 for $600+ when it was just released.
Now in the same year, Panasonic has released a 2 superceeding models: http://www.dpreview.com/news/0607/06...asonicfx50.asp Looks like Panasonic is now replacing models twice a year. ![]() |

FROM THE OTHER THREAD
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- hi guys, I am currently in Japan now. The Panasonic FX-01 (made in Japan) is currently selling for S$490 (Yen34900) in Tokyo. Yodobashi/Akihabara. Comes with the retail box, International warranty, 16mb SD Card and no case. Manual's in Japanese, but camera can be set to English language. If anyone is interested, i can help to buy. You would have to transfer $$$ to me (POSBANK) first though. I am coming back on SIA flight back to Singapore SQ997 on Wednesday evening at 6pm. Pickup from me can be arranged at airport or Sim Lim Square area. Private mesg me if you are interested. |

bought the cam in may at parisilk @ holland village for $590 when it was just launched... quite happy with it. thought it's a good price point for its specs.
checked with them last month if they're selling the marine case but it seems that panasonic didn't bring it in. anybody here knows if any shop is selling the case in singapore? saw the listed price on the web @ us$249! ![]() Last edited by munyue; 26th July 2006 at 10:49 PM. |

FX-01 is nice with its lens and FX-50 has the 28mm wide angle lens as well. Isn't it?
Does FX-50 is out in Singapore's market yet? I believe some limitations in FX-01 is fixed in this FX-50 and it might worth the wait for it. Any idea which place to get a good bargain in compact digital camera around Singapore? |

Hi guys,
have to steal this thread for a while. I've been looking at FX01 for a while and I've been sold by it's 28mm lens. However, I've been at the specs on the internet and it seems like it doesn't have Aperture, or Shutter-Priority or Manual Mode. Also, I can't find anywhere that says that it has Spot Metering (all the specs says is Weighted Metering. Note: it's not Spot focusing). Hopefully the DMC-FX01 users here can help to enlighten me. Thanks. |

For those who are more serious and looking for those function will be getting prosumer camera. As for spot metering, iirc only higher end model have. I doubt the spot metering of my D50 is true-spot metering as well, more like center weight to me. =x but thats not much of a problem under most situation.
