Default AF or manual focus

What is the recommended point of focus, while using macro lens underwater? AF or manual focus wif setting desired distant? Sometimes, AF is struggling to get the focus. What is the situation that makes us use Manual Focus?

Default Re: AF or manual focus

most of the time i use MF for macro (less than 15cm away).

otherwise for close-up shots i use the AF, but in macro mode so it doesnt hunt too much

also, if you're using a P&S, one thing to note is that you should turn off the AiAF (canon), or iESP (oly). use centre focus instead, so you know precisely where the AF is going to focus on.

hope this helps! i'm still learning myself..
